In November 2022, the 9th International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC) Congress will be held in Kobe, Japan, at Kobe Portopia Hotel (https://www.portopia.co.jp/en/).
With both local and international organizing committees of the 9th congress composed of the most renowned scientists and researchers in the microbiome field, we expect to attract a large audience of over 1,000 participants from all over the world.
The congress is held in a hybrid manner composed of on-site and online participants. The program of the congress will include the latest scientific developments and a variety of activities of interest for young to senior researchers, clinical professionals, academia, industry as well as the general public. Commercial stands will be also featured for the duration of the congress to foster networking and commercial opportunities for companies and delegates attending the event.
The program will be structured by plenary sessions, parallel sessions, and poster sessions, and sponsored sessions, and exhibitions by companies. In addition, we will have oral sessions for outstanding scientists selected from all applicants who submitted abstracts to poster sessions. We expect submission of over 300 abstracts. Kobe is the 7th largest city in Japan with an exotic atmosphere, located west of Tokyo (500 km, around 3 hours on a bullet train, the Shinkansen), and near traditional cities, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. Kobe Portopia Hotel is an international hotel located on the sea side of Kobe and close to the downtown (3 km) with a lot of hotels and restaurants. Kobe Portopia Hotel has 746 guest rooms and a variety of 36 large and small banquet halls, including the largest International Conference Hall (Portopia Hall) with a maximum capacity for 1,700 people.
Depending on the airlines, four international airports (Kansai, Chubu, Tokyo/Haneda, and Narita) are the gateway to Japan for foreigners. There are several routes for access to Kobe from the international airports by air (connecting flights) or ground transportations (Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Kobe station). The recommended route: You arrive at Tokyo/Haneda or Narita International Airport, transfer to Osaka/Itami Airport by connecting flights (about 1 hour), and take airport buses to Kobe Sannomiya (around 40 min). There are also airport buses from Kansai International Airport to Sannomiya (around 1 hour). Sannomiya is the biggest downtown in Kobe where many hotels and restaurants are. The access to Kobe Portopia Hotel is by public transport (Port Liner Monorail) or by hotel shuttle bus (around 20 min) from Sannomiya and from Shin-Kobe station (around 20 min). The station nearest Kobe Portopia Hotel in Port Liner is Shimin Hiroba.
